Introductory Pedals

I know it's been asked b4, but people go off on different tangents talking about DOD, or Marshal. All i want to know is which of these pedals would suit my needs.

Pedals

Boss
DS-1 distortion
DS-2 turbo distortion (i've tried this one, it sounded pretty good)
MD-2 mega distortion
MT-2 Metal Zone (this is fairly pricey $250aus)

Digitech
Metal Master

My Setup

Vester (concert stage series, i think, i'm not really sure, there is limited info on this company)
Humbucker at bridge, with 2 single pick-ups further up. 6 string, 24 fret.

Samick 50W amp
controls (from L to R)
volume, overdrive, master, treble, mid, bass

there is also a jack for overdrive pedal and line out on the back, can someone explain the purposes for these.

My Needs
I play Pantera, Cradle of Filth, My Dying Bride, Black Sabbath, Tool, System of a Down, Metallica, Slipknot, Cannibal Corpse, RATM, In Flames.

so i need something with diversity, clarity, no noise.

please don't mention other pedals, or effects boards, i've done some research and i'm trying to decide between these pedals.

I've been playing for about 8 months, i'm still finding out what everything means (ie i'm kinda unsure what gain, drive, mean, or even if they are different). so try and speak basic.

i'm personally leaning towards, the DS-1 or DS-2 cause of price ($150aus and $200aus respectively) but any info on these would be great.

thanks for any help that can be provided.

the metalzone, just like any other boss pedal, it's really reliable, indestructible and it sounds good. (the DS and MD have less versitality)

I don't know about digitech, haven't heard it, but I don't really trust that brand, I know a guy who ruined his digitech RP multiple effect pedal. (no wonder, it's plastic..)

you should also look into an equalizer. That will help you to shape your sound to the way you want it. Personally, I'd take a DS-1 over the Metal Zone.

yeah i'm now excluding the metal zone and metal master (far too expensive on a uni students budget).
So the question is DS-1 or DS-2?

I've heard some people prefer the DS-1 over the DS-2, despite the DS-2's turbo switch.

Your thoughts

EDIT:
I can't seem to find the Mega Distortion in Aus, but apparently it isn't that good anyway.

the problem with music shops in Aus is they don't stock a whole lot unless you are in a major city. (which i'm not)
I tried a DS-2 yesterday, but they didn't have a DS-1. They had the DS-2 stickered $60Aus over rrp too. theiving bastards.

I get a quite good sound using the MT-2 into my Korg AX1500G. I have the Boss for distortion connected first in the chain leading into the Korg which i use for amp/cab simulation and effects.

bones stop trying to change the topic.
(and i spread my musical tastes, unlike some who are narrow minded, and try to be hard by listening to ONE genre)
