Wrists
Hey guys,
I lately have quite a lot of pain in my wrists after I have played for quite a time (2-3 hours). Now we all know that Demonaz had to quit Immortal because he didn´t warm up his wrists before playing. And since I want to be a guitarist for more than a few years, I want to ask you if you guys know any traning for the wrists. Websites are also welcome!

I honestly do not know. I've had that for awhile too. I've also heard that it wasn't very good because it could limit your playing ability...
Check out this link, maybe it will help you out... maybe it won't. I think it did me abit good.

True. Yes of course it could just be a simple 'breaking in' or it could be something that will hurt you in the long run. That's why keyboards today are desinged differently and all have that warning about using the keyboard could damage wrists, arms, etc when you do repitive activities. Also I know keyboards dont have alot in common with guitars as far as I know - was an example. Just a thought.

SINCE TALKING ABOUT PAIN I'LL ASK MY QUESTION HERE INSTEAD OF MAKING NEW THREAD.
I GOT PAIN BUT NOT IN THE WRIST NEITHER IN THE ASS BUT IN THE EDGE OF MY LEFT HAND (ON THE PINKY SIDE). ESPECIALLY WHEN I PLAY SCALE.
I PLAY GUITAR FOR 5 YEARS BUT NEVER REALLY PAY ATTENTION TO ANY THEORY
BUT SINCE 7 OR 8 MONTH I START TO PLAY SCALE AND MORE THEORICAL STUFF.
AND BEFORE THAT I COULDN'T BEND MY PINKY WITHOUT BENDING MY RING FINGER
(AM I A FREAK OR IT'S LIKE THAT FOR ALMOST EVERYBODY?)
IT REALLY HURT TO THE POINT THAT SOMETIME I HAVE TO STOP A COUPLE OF SEC.
MY HAND GET TENSE AND MUCH LARGER THAN THE OTHER. AND IT FUCKIN HURT.
DO I HAVE TO BE CAREFUL TO AVOID ANY NERVE PROBLEM? OR IT'S NORMAL AND IT'S BECAUSE I'M GETTING SOME STRENGHT IN MY PINKY AND THE PAIN'S GONNA LEAVE WITH MORE PRACTICE.
I ALSO HAVE SOME SORT OF PAIN IN MY PALM BUT ONLY WHEN I PLAY CHORD "ESPECIALLY POWER CHORD" IT START TO HURT
AFTER 2 OR 3 MINUTES
MAYBE IT'S JUST A WARMING UP PROBLEM

try adjusting your strap.
too much strain on the pinky may be because your trying
to strech to finger notes, instead, you should pivot on your thumb.
keep your fingers relatively close together.

Wrist hurting sounds like you dont hold it right when you play... Id suggest keeping it tucked into the body of the guitar most of the time and using you arm a lil more to help... thats what i do allot since im rhythmn guitarist in my band (buy my new cd "Hatred" by my band Cold Raven's Hell!)) Also streching it or heatin it with a pad before long sessions is an inside thing all you metal go'ers that i do to get it nice and loose before a session with my guitar or after a session with my doogan.

@delete, try when playing with your pinky, to move your entire hand up a bit with it, so that you're not forcing your pinky into place. and the pinky and ring fingers are connected(sort of) at the tendon, so they should move together.

well i do have a teacher, even though its classical guitar he tells me to:
- keep the left shoulder LOOSE
- keep your fingers loose
- when you're putting your fingers down, do it smoothly, and fast doesnt mean hard.
- when your fingers are on the fretboard, they should really just "hang" there. not too much pressure is needed.
- keep your wrist in. this wont help with your wrist problem, but it works for classical

@ delete, i think you just need to get a little more power in your pinky finger, then it wont hurt. and i think you just need to get used to playing different chords. when i first discovered the F chord, it would take me a few seconds to position my fingers right and it would kinda hurt if i left it in that position for a while. now, i switch through a F chord with ease and no pain. so i think you just need a little bit of practice. kinda bogles my mind though that you've been playing for five years and still get a pian from a power chord!

YEAH THE REASONS WHY IT'S BECAUSE I PUT TO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE NECK WHEN I PLAY CHORD AND I DON'T REALLY LIKE TO PLAY POWER CHORD AND I USE TO PLAY POWER CHORD WITH ONLY TWO FINGER NOW I PLAY THEM WITH MY PINKY.
MAYBE THAT'S A REASON TOO WHY I HAVE PAIN
I DON'T WASTE MY TIME ON THINGS I CAN ALREADY PLAY... I DON'T REALLY "PLAY GUITAR" I "PRACTICE GUITAR" THAT'S WHY MOST OF THE TIME I PLAY STUFF
AND I SOUND LIKE A BEGINNER I PLAY WHAT I CAN'T. I ALSO WRITE SONG THAT
I'M NOT ABLE TO PLAY
I'M DEFINATELY A "LEAD WANNABE GUITARIST".
