yngwie is just plain boring....i listen to one of his songs and realize in about 45 seconds that i haven't been paying attention. But if i was listening to Becker or Gilbert or Laiho or most other metal players i am attentive through out the whole song...

I think Yngwie has some stuff that is definitely very metal - true, there is a lot of classical, but the metal aspect is still there. I do agree with metal=life - my mind starts wandering after listening to Yngwie for a little while, unless it's been a long time since I've listened to the album. On the other hand, I can listen to Laiho on CoB's Follow the Reaper over and over - awesome stuff!

Dime is really good with his tone and the weird noises and squeals he can get out of a guitar. He can also play some really fast shit. Dimebag is definitely a kick-ass guitarist but I think that he's just been in the business for too long. Everyone knows who he is and wants to hear something different.

eh, i think he's still got alot of years on him, in pantera or not. But i think people who just started playing guitar or aren't that great at it overate him to much. I remember when i first started i went to try and learn a pantera tab and thought it was hard like shit and thought "he must be a god or something" so i overrated him. But after playing for a while, its not all that hard to do stuff like he does.

Where oh where is Alexi Laiho, for me he is THE best metal guitarist, he has a style I dont think anyone can match at the moment, including the shredders. And Alexi is definately NOT overrated, though Dimebag is sometimes I agree.

I think Yngwie, Eddie, and Steve Vai are better technicaly, but I was wanting
to know which of these did more for you in the metal vien of playing. And I
probaly should have included Friedman. I'm thinking in terms of lead. I haven't
herd any C.O.B., except somthing on there site, which wasn't enough to know any
about his style. I'm not much for keyboards.
