Zoom G.7 & Fx Loop

Hey, I got a Zoom G.7 really cheap off ebay, just wanting to know if it's OK to plug into the FX return on my head and will it bypass the preamp?
Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.

yes it will.

FX return is the exact same thing as a "Line in" jack.

So is it normal to not have any volume control on the amp side? I have to control the volume thru the pedal.

Haha True. But no I dont. I have a Peavey Valve King and it's rather limited. When I plug in it's like it's on Flat out and have to adjust the effect.
I sounds better than going thru the clean channel but I'm worried I might damage the amp.

its impossible to damage the amp by plugging an instrument or pedal in it.
