Prolly a REALLY STUPID question but...

... I am in the process of building a lap steel (as in David Gilmour... not country....) and I have an old bass pickup.... what would happen if I used the bass pickup in it? Should I try it or just not waste my time and wait till I get a regular guitar pickup.

I built a country style lap steel from scratch. I actually used a humbucker from a guitar and coil tapped it. Worked out pretty good. I would think a bass pickup would just accentuate lower frequencies.

I would try it.. but if it sucks, then I have routed way more wood than necessary. Plus, the wood I have is Mahogany, so it should naturally be dark do begin with.
