Post Is this guitar pretty good?

I was wondering, because sometime after christmas I want to get a new guitar, but would the Gibson SG Standard or the Gibson Les Paul Studio Gothic be good guitar for metal or is there any other guitars that would be better for metal, I want basically a guitar that will throw some really good distortion and a clean sound at you. So please let me know what you guys think about that and if not, then what guitar would you prefer that wouldnt be over 1500 dollars. Hail!

I have the studio gothic and i think its PERFECT for metal! I love it so much! It's got such a full and nice sound! Go play it at a store you will fall in love with it. It's the perfect guitar for me. Just the bit of added darkness and fullness makes it so good for metal I think!

Both are quite good. It all comes down to personal opinion, but believe me....both guitars will perform!

I've got a gothic SG and I love it.. I am going to switch out one of the pickups to a 500T I think though.. But It's still a great guitar as it sits.. the only difference between the SG and the Les Paul that I saw was a pickup and the strings it came with and the obvious fact that the les paul weighs 8 times more than the SG that's why I chose the SG

Yeah man I think I might go with the SG then , my dad said he is gonna get Gibson Les Paul Studio Gothic, so then that would mean that I will be ablw to have both.

Les Paul has a darker and fuller sound than the SG but ya its heavier but it's not a problem unless youre very weak and im fucking skinny as hell

Well i'm not weak or anything.. and i'm not saying you said I was I just was trying to think ahead.. I play alot of grind and goregrind stuff which can be hell on your arms..the last thing I needed was guitar weight causing more of a problem.. but the weight difference is pretty big between the two.. but you are correct the 496T (I think it's that or the 498T) has alittle more of a full sound than the 490T. That's why I'm switching mine out for the 500T.. But the 490R is just a warm fucking pickup.. that pickup blows my mind still.. the sustain..and the warmth.. it's amazing.. I don't think I could ever buy another guitar Gibson has totally won me over.. and the only reason I wanted to play one was because they looked really plain which is what I wanted.. and I am extremely glad I picked one up..

Hey thanks man.. it's a sprite from Moonwalker the video game.. when you dance and kill all the enemies on the screen..haha.. If I ever get tired of this one I have another from the game Dark Stalkers.. it was a fighting game.. and one of the characters is a ghoul with this huge guitar.. and I have a sprite of him doing some stuff also with his guitar.. I think it's his winning pose..

ah, right, but what do you like best of that guitar?

I don't think I've ever seen that brand in a guitar shop, and I've visited quite some, though I'm not a real guitar player, but a die hard bass player.

at first sight it looks like a really normal guitar, but then again, so does a musicman stingray... what kinda bridge does it have? a floyd rose?

I have a Maverick F-1 and seriously they look much better in real life than on that picture. Besides, you could also get the X-1 which is an explorer shape.

Anyway, the maverick plays really nicely, definitely well suited for riffs, but i would recommend the hardtail version over the floyd just because i have an Ibanez rg570 with a lo-pro edge trem that is so much better at staying in tune and being stable.

Still, i tend to play my ibanez more, as when i have practised on the ibanez, everything seems so easy on the maverick!
