What the, if I can't buy cables at Radioshack(I know, they suck), where the hell can I buy that stereo 1/4 adapter 1/8 stereo whatever cord? And I've been looking for a DC 9V adapter for my BOSS ME-30, and I can't find one anywhere...I know a few of you guys have an ME-30, where did you get yours? That damn thing eats batteries like no tomorrow!

I have run into a few problems as well. first of all, i have a bc rich warlock, metal zone mt2, and a Peavey Bandet 112 tube amp. i just got cool edit pro and and adapter cord for 1/4 to 1/8 inch cable's, however its a stereo cable and not mono, not sure if that matters. i set it up so its:
guitar->cord->pedal->cord->amp->adapter->labtop.
with my amp, there isnt a headphone jack but there is a preamp out and an external speaker jack on the back, do thoes work just as well as an output to a computer? The problem i encountered was i get a really loud humming noise out of my amp when i plug it in to my labtop. I can hear the guitar in the backround but the fuzzy and cracking noise is really loud. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Do what Grimbecile does and record straight on to the comp through Windows Sound Recorder.
You can find the songs at www.grimbecile.tk

This site is dedicated completely to PC recording. We do a lot of sessions right over the net, and turn out some good tunes. Come check it out, were always looking for new guys to come and record with us. No experience needed.

Yeah. I'm still trying to figure out how to post my music on here with a cd. Someone was supposed to help me out, but probably forgot. I already have songs downloaded on my pc. I know a lot of you guys are anxious to hear it as well as I'm anxious to get it on here. I'd appreciate any help..

Im looking at doing this:
Guitar>amp>rp7>1/4 inch cable>line in>cakewalk. Is this all i need?
I assumed it was dar dar's band. God, man, learn guitar before even covering and Impaled northern Moonforest song... ugh

for connecting midi to a computer, almost any sound card will work. chances are very good that your sound card's gameport doubles as a midi in/out port
also, micing is almost always the best way to guarantee a good sound. if your amp's preamp/line out has a separate volume control (my yamaha dg does, but most ive seen dont) you can get a perfect recording by lowering the volume.
amps output volume that is generally way too high for your sound card, so it clips the sound, making it sound like ass.
mic it or lower your line out volume if you can.
cakewalk rocks.

So that will work? Nice. And i've heard you can fry your soundcard if you have it too high.
a.) i was already going to record it at a lower volume
b.) im doing it on my drummer's comp so its on him for fucking anything up.
Thanks man.

im pretty sure that it won't fry your sound card.. my roommate has been using his preamp out for a while now, and his sound card is fine. his recordings sound like total shit compared to mine (with independent volume for the line out on mine) but he hasn't actually messed up his sound card, it just clips the volume beyond a certain level.

do this:
guitar -> amp -> line out/headphone ->1/4 inch cable -> Mic
(I've figured out that if you record through the mic input, you get stereo recording)
Use the amp's distortion at first, then when you're successful later, you can try putting effects in front of your amp. (I've found that a Metal Zone+amp sounds too bright and soft [volume-wise] compared to just amp distortion)
To get a decent sound, you have to mess around with 2 volume controls:
1. The Master Volume on your amp
2. The Recording volume for the Mic
both of those should be not be so high, or else it will sound distorted when you record it.
with me, those controls are relatively low. You don't want it to be too low either, or else you won't be getting the maximum amount of signal
