7 strings aren't gay, it's the way you use them, bands like unearth use them well and it's not nu-metal or anything in that direction, it depends on the person that's using them.

Well did you adjust the truss rod to make the neck straight again? And from what I hear BC Rich uses cheap ass wood but pretty hot pickups. That's what your paying for the shape and the pickups and they use crap wood for the components? Everyone that i've talked to about BC Rich told me not to go with a BC Rich unless I wanted to fork out the money for a custom one. There is a BIG metal rod that goes through your neck and it's udjustable for a reason. If you keep the neck bowed it's going to want to stay that way. and that is when it's warped. So if you don't care then don't mess with the truss rod. If you want your guitar to last and not go out of tune constantly because your neck is a fishing pole then just adjust it that way. I NEVER have my Gibson in standard tuning. So I have the rod adjust to the point that when i'm in C it's perfect.. If I do go to standard tuning the neck is bowed a tad. but I never use standard so why do I care?

i agree with Ivan...7 string bring more to the music not take away. its how its used that makes it worth while...Korn (although nu metal) makes some awsome music with a 7 stringer...and sometimes a 12...

when tuning down, string tension must be near eqaul to the tension of the strings as it came standard if ya wanna tune down with cheap shit guitars.
i have a really cheap yamaha strat copy that iv had at C for a year now and its still perfectly playable with the intonation near perfect and no sign of any damage.
all i use is a 52 string for the C which is near in tension to a 42 at E and so on.
so if the guitar is set up correctly to begin with, there should be no damage whatsoever.
