EMG 85 in bridge position

Anyone ever try using an 85 in the bridge? I tried it out and it sounds really good except for the highs accentuate the sound of the pick hitting the strings and the stings hitting the frets, sorta like some bass setups have. Is this how they always are or just in my guitar?

EMG's always have a distinct sound to them. some like it, some hate it. i personally like them. i got an 85 in the neck pos and an 81 in the bridge. ive never switched them around but ill try it out someday and let you know what i think.

I got an 85 in the bridge position and yes, I know exactly what you mean. There aren't too many ways around it that I know of other than maybe some sort of noise suppressor. the picking and fretting noise for me isn't annoying enough to really do anything about it. How bad is it for you?

edit: also, I don't mean to play mod here but this should be in gear and recording.

Ok, it's not just me. I havn't had a chance to try recording or a band practice with it yet. just been playing it at home with my practice amp. I mostly notice it when i play fast palm muted parts and single notes. I haven't really made up my mind on it yet cause it sounds really good besides that.

guess i'll just leave it in until i come to a definate decision. i want to see what the 18 volt mod does for it too. What kind of guitar do you have yours in? Not sure if that matters with EMG's though. Ive heard different things.

The guitar my EMGs are in is an Ibanez RG350 DX. Yeah it really doesn't matter as much with EMGs what guitar you have them in. But don't take it from me, there's an entire thread dedicated to this stuff.
