Underatted guitarists
OK OK OK. Notice there is no "most" in the title cause this is simple listing guitarists who you think are underatted and tell why. Discuss. But let's not make it some huge battle cause what's something to someone may be something else to someone else.-Kinda confused myself there. But you get the drift.
OK let's start
for me
Luc Lemay
The guitarists of Impaled
James Murphy
Kelly Shaffer
Paul Masvidal

Holdsworth...
Mark Evans / Scott Young - Alarum
Max Seeman - Anomalous
Pablo and Sebastian from Coprofago
except for Holdsworth I´d say the rest gets absolutely zero credibility yet they play so fucking amazing and definitely deserves a lot more.

Hey infinity I'll make you a deal. If you can learn and play the whole Cynic album you can say as much shit as you want. But if you can't then you are just as ignorant and useless as those people who bash Steve Vai but can't even touch what he can play.

does it matter if people can play steve Vai's stuff for them to judge his music?\
i respect him for his skill, but i don't like his music because it's so gay.
sooooo what you just said doesn't make sense, how 'bout we don't judge someones credibility by how high their RPM is for tremolo picking?
varg vikernes could barely play and some people reggard his art as the best they can hear.
/rant
though i do love Cynic :P

I understand that. But I'm talking about people who don't say "He is very tallented but I am not really a fan of the music" instead they just flat out say "He sucks." I think that's pure ignorance. Personally I still think if you can't play it or can't respect it for it's tallent then they you have no right to bash it.

yeah like when punks who walk into GC, buy a bronze warlock and then call chuck shculdiners work some random notes or say "metallica kicks all their asses"
i just wanna challenge them to a shred-off or ask if they want to start playing some cryptopsy for me.
i completely understand where your coming from now
people with no dedication to their instruments don't have the right to judge death metal as garbage

I try to learn all types of music on guitar to keep challenging myself. Like I despise Suffocation and Necrophagist but I still learn their music on guitar to better myself.
Where as these emo punks I see play the same crap over and over again and think anything that isn't in their style sucks or makes them look weak.

Yeah who wants to listen to a boring guitar solo when we can listen to some cheesy hook over a bunch of random palm-muted power chords over and over again.

Hey man riffs go a long way. A good riff is catchy and stays in peoples heads. How can people remember a shit load of sweeping. It wouldn't stand out from the thousands of other guys wanking away.

Sweeping lines are quite easy to remember if you have ears. If you think they are chord progressions. Also why I don't agree if blandly sweeping unless the progression is good.
Anomalous are a good example, the fact they are sweeping for sweep's sake is pointless but the actual melody is really impressive. People need to stop listen for technicality and start listening for melody. Many anti-technical people counter their own points.

I tottally agree. I'm not anti-technical tho. I listen to a lot of technical stuff but it has some sense of melody involved in it. It's not just wanking for 5 minutes a song.
