touch style

i've been watching a lot of touch style youtube videos and im totally stoked on it. basically i want to know where to start. i've looked alot of websites and they either suck or are just talking about how i should buy a warr guitar with like 14 strings. what's some basic shit i could start with? i'm all fucked up right now so give me something to read while i force myself to drink water. sweet.

I'd say to start I would start tapping a lot more in your pick-based work, or even fingerpicking. Also check out Erik Mongrain.

i've just been trying to learn some simple stuff like the halloween theme song the way buckethead plays it. just simple stuff trying to get my right hand to move the way i want it too. from what i can tell by watching it is that it's important to be able to move your hands independently and be able to play different timing with both hands.

It's like learning your scales and chords really, you just learn what finger when over time. I suppose knowing almost what to play kinda helps.

i've been working on it for a week or so now and it's really not that hard to comprehend. basically if you have a decent grasp of scales and the fret board in general it's easy to make some crazy sounding stuff. i'm using a lot of it in my clean bridges and shit like that. it's definitely an over looked aspect of guitar playing. makes me wish i could buy a warr and an o of blueberry.

Are you just pushing down really hard to make the notes sound out? or is there something in this video that I'm not seeing?

it's not really about playing hard, it's more about only playing what you want to and muting everything else. compression always helps.

Hahaha, check out this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=lp_0co6f...related&search= it's the same thing as the touch style on the guitar, but this one has the guy playing a piano and a guitar at the same time.

Here's two sites I found by searching: http://touchstyle.info/ and http://www.tappistry.org/

Here's a youtube on setting up your guitar to make touch style easier:http://youtube.com/watch?v=oF7TsqVo_qM
