tuning up the bass

Hi.
I have a problem. I've recently bought Peavey Cirrus BXP (4 string one of course). Well, I'm satisfied with the new guitar, but I guess maybe I just can't feel it yet, because there's one thing I can't set up.

The guitar has 3 band eq. My amp has 3 band eq (plus SWEEP on mids). Anyway, I can't for fuck sake tune both up in way which would fully satisfy me. I'm looking for, uhm, let's call it clean, but not TOO clean sound on every single string. And the strings sounds like:
- A (the 2nd one) sounds just great. It has perfect sound, just enough clarity in the sound. Not too much bass, not to few treble. Just perfect.
- D string sounds good too, maybe it's little too clear
- G string SUCKS COMPLETELY. It's way TOO clean, i want to have more bass on it.
- If it goes to E string, hmm, lets say it has too much bass and it could have more clarity in the sound, cause it sucks completely around 8th fret and higher.

Okay, here's the question - how to tune up both, guitar and amp, to get clean, but bassy sound as I said before?

Are the strings new? If so, that could be what you're not liking. When strings are brand new, they do tend to be too clear and bright sounding. Just give it a little time, and they'll start losing that overly-clear/bright sound.

yea agreed. Strings sound miserable until you where em in. Even the best brands don't sound great the moment you strap them on.

lol, he meant to put them in very warm water, so whole shit on them would get off.

Anyway, they're quite new, but you know, the A string sounds just about right, and the E is too bassy.
