death metal intrumentals with clean vocals

are there any good bands who use the death metal instrumentals but without the guttural screams, vocals that are clean and actually sung?

A song isn't instrumental when it has vocals.. doh!
Martyr comes to mind though.. not sure if it's what you mean with "real singing".

If you can't stand gutturals or screaming, listen to powermetal or something.

Cynic and Lykathea Aflame have some clean melodic vocal interludes. Gojira always have a rough voice going on in From Mars to Sirius, but in many parts the vocals carry a melody.

This is kind of a confusing question. Instrumentals= no singing. Death metal= death metal vocals.

But I think I heard a Vader song with clean vocals on it. I forgot which song it is, though.

Death metal doesn't necessarily mean you have to have death vocals ALL THE TIME. Look at Opeth, Dark Tranquility, or In Flames.

Akercocke have clean vocals and they are blackened death metal, so I dont care. Maybe he should check out Akercocke.

Hell yes Akercocke.

Vader's cover of Black Sabbath also had more melodic singing.

Yeah, Akercocke is pretty cool. When I first read this thread, I thought he meant instrumentals by death metal bands with people talking in the background or some shit.

Oh, yeah, and Into Eternity is great too.

YEah this confused me. If a song has vocals, it isn't an instrumental. Unless... well, what if the vocals were just choir ahhs and oohs or and not words? Would it still not be an instrumentals?

Well, that's what I thought he was talking about. Choirs and background vocals. But then everyone started naming a bunch of bands with clean vocals and I kinda figured it out. And yeah, choirs in the background I would think would be still be instrumentals then.

I've always thought of Nevermore as power or prog even. Not really deathy. But meh. Yeah. They come close.

That's because they're jealous of the fact that Akercocke knows how to read music. (not Devourment, just some idiot fans)
