you can tune it however you please, but i believe most 5+ string players still tune to perfect 4ths like on the 4 string. any of you 5+ string guys have an opinion on this? subsonic6string im looking in your direction.

I say do away with it. You can always stand in its former location if you need to make use of the perspective it gave you, but will benefit from the ability to situate yourself in different loci with ease.
Destroy the box.

As far as I'm aware, 7's are custom basses, so you can get either the extra low (F#) or the extra high (F). Personally, I'd go with the higher F, but that's only because I tune so low anyway (my low B is actually at G#, my E is dropped to
B, etc.) Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Man, that would be a fucking low note...turn your amp up to 7 and it'll blow the hair off your balls

actually, unless you have an accugroove, whappo grande, youll destroy your speaker, and not really hear anything other than a flatulent brrupp sound.

Yeah that's true, I think a low A is the lowest note audible to the human ear...any lower than that and I think you would just feel it.

just dont try playing under a low A with any kind of force unless you can dish out the cash for a new speaker.

With Wetwork, we tune to C# then drop B. My low B is then at low G#. It's still audible at that point, but took one HELL of a lot of tweaking with the truss rods and bridge before I had the action and intonation correct. I wouldn't recommend going any lower than that, though.

I'm currently playing through an SWR 750X into 2 Yorkville 4x10 cabs and (amazingly) there's a ton of bottom end. It actually shook one t-bar support from the drop ceiling during a recent rehearsal!!! Thinking of switching the bottom cab to a 1x18 though, if I can find one I like.

Cheers.

lol, is there really a purpose to going that low? I and most other people I talk to are usually more impressed by fast, high end lines.
Nobody bitch at me for that or Ill stab you in the neck with a screwdriver

For me, I find that playing in C# drop B tuning is perfect for our music. I like having the low string so I can climb up to notes. Just worked out that way. Normally, though, I wouldn't recommend playing that low, as without spending weeks working on your neck, it'll sound (and feel) like well-cooked spaghetti!

Cheers.
