this is not a thread on how to get faster this is a thread on how to keep up your speed i can play somewhat fast (faster than my frienda at lest ) but after about 5 min of playing at my top speed my arm just dies and does not wanna keep going is there anything i can do so i can play my fastest for a longer period of time?

just keep practicing. the stronger your arm/wrist gets the more endurance you'll have

you shouldn't be using your arm to play, it'll just wear you out faster. learn to play with just your wrist.............. you'll last alot longer.

And masturbate.

Practice tremolo picking with your wrist instead of your arm, it'll be way more effective and right off the bat you'll probably be able to last twicve as long.

Yup, you guys already told him the answer basically, the fastest way to pick is ofcourse with a wrist movement, use your wrist and you arm together but don't use you arm to much (its difficult to explain in english, but you get the idea)

if you play with to much stress on your arm it'll hurt like hell after a while, if you use your wrist more you will play more effectively, it also helps to build up more speed, it just takes practise.

actually I think most guitar players started out with the arm thingy and after a while started to use their wrist more, I don't know.
I play bass myself but whenever I play with a plectrum (quite often) I try to use my wrist the best as possible, it also helps supporting your arm, like hanging on the guitar the right way, rest your arm on the body a bit, if you're stressing you arm whilst playing you'll get a sore arm.

i split it like arm/wrist for a reason; he might already be in a bad habit of using his arm. you cant teach an old dog new tricks.

Morbid has a point, Its a hard habit to get out of. Ive been trying my best to learn to play more from the wrist but I find it pretty fuckin hard for fast stuff, my arm has alot more speed. I just keep practicin and with time hopefully it will get better
