No, he hasnt really done anything people would mention right away, but he is far more interesting than 90% of the bass players in death metal. Too bad you cant really hear him in Once Was Not, there were some cool tapping lines I saw live, which I couldnt hear in the album + he does alot of slapping in general

If speed isnt a big deal, then I'm not sure why is Webster so recognized?

not that I dont love langlois lines, but just because he slaps alot doesnt mean hes good at it, he uses that retarded korn bridge doubleslap technique. ive never really heard him do any slapping that couldnt be done by some kid sitting in guitar center hacking out "higher grounds"

i am posititve myung, lars, malone and keyser are all equal with many virtuosos. They may not be as great on the solo bass but technically speaking those four are all on par with many bass legends imo.

first of all you have probably never heard of watchtower so i will excuse you for not hearing keyser. His lines on their albums were crazy though and you have to be a master bass player to keep up with ron jarzombek

malone has an album called corlandt. It is brilliant bass work and he also has a tune on gordian knot's album emergent called the brook, the ocean which is insane considering that he is playing along will bill brufford.

lars is impeccable. you have probably not heard much spiral architect as well and as i said before with keyser go check some of this underground stuff out. His lines are super fluid and rhythmically they are totally unique. It is a real pain when you can easily tab out the rest of the song except his parts.

As i have pointed out in this post. You probably don't know what you are talking about considering the fact that alot of the stuff i listen to alot of metalheads don't enjoy because it is a little too progressive for them. But if you have heard of these bands then shame on you bass noob because you totally don't know what you are talking about!

Look, i know jaco and vic are both legends, but there are many other fabulous players out there beyond the guys that everyone always brings up from the 70s and 80s fusion era and modern solo artists. Seriously look around, inspiration can be found in many other places besides forums and youtube.

That's pretty much what I do, but only because, to me, that is the best sound I get from my bass. I've messed around with the knobs to see which I liked best, and in the end, I had everything turned up. And then I messed with the knobs on my amp.

I never said the bass players you listed weren't good. I simply said that IMO, Jaco and Vic are better. I don't really want to to argue about it because, like I said, I really just don't care about your opinions.

you can learn alot from peoples opinions. especially about your instrument. Just because you are apathetic doesn't mean i care either but that is kind of the reason why you join a forum. You know to post your opinions and listen to what others have to say as well. I may not be the greatest bass player right now but im very dedicated and i really play alot. But besides that I know alot about music. I mean I spend more than half of my time either listening, composing, or playing music so the least you can do is listen to what i have to say about it. Just because you don't know what you are talking about doesn't mean that you should shove off things that are above your head. Trust me i learn that the hard way all the time.

Only two I haven't heard of are Keyser and Lars. I am very familiar with all the other ones. If you want, tomorrow when I get done training I will break down the list with my take on each player I've heard of.

i don't want you to get that obsessed, but come on technically most of the players are easily on par with jaco and some are on par with vic. Myung, keyser, malone, and lars are all crazy and those four at least are all worth putting at the same level as the jazz legends.
