The show King of The Hill has a cowbell in the beginning during the theme song.

The cowbell in the chorus of Grim Reaper's "Fear no Evil" is awesome. If it has any place in metal, which it does, it's mostly in older (or older sounding) heavy metal.

I've found I like using a cowbell in blast beats instead of the hi-hat.

Ken Owen from Carcass used it in song "Keep On Rotting In The Free World" from album "Swansong" during the first guitar solo instead of ride cymbal or hihat.In the song, it sounds awsome.
