no I didnt miss any spots, thats masking tape on the sides, I decided to leave them the factory gloss black color, this is about 3 days in. I did the same stain on the neck, and im waiting for my fret pullers from stewmac to defret the neck, then im gonna put clear on the fretboard along with wood filler.
dont give me shit about the dark spot on the body, the sander freaked out and went a lil deep. nothing I could do about it, the finish is rosewood and it naturally has dark spots, so it doesnt just look like regular old alder anymore.

for pickups im still deciding between bartolini and rio grande.
im gonna order the kahler trem bridge soon.

Not being a techie (by any means!), I feel justified in asking a potentially stupid question.

What the hell is that thing coming out of where the neck attaches and the neck plate should be? Could it be a truss rod?

Why does it appear to get wider as I look more to the right on the photo?

What is it made of?

I say do away with it. You can always stand in its former location if you need to make use of the perspective it gave you, but will benefit from the ability to situate yourself in different loci with ease.

Possibly, but what for?

And what would a truss rod look like anyway? Is it even possible to remove it from a neck without ruining it?

its a shoe string.
I hung the body from the cieling of my shed so it would be easier to work with when i was doing the finish.
the tuss rod is INSIDE the neck, and in no way connected to the body...ever.

Thanks.

And my other question is: what does a truss rod look like? I'm very curious as to how it maintains the same amount of tension in a neck ...
And is it easy to remove/replace?
