ok, this thread may be a waste of space, but this has really been bothering me.
i really dislike the stones, except one song, which i have heard for awhile but i dont know the name. its really good. it has a female singer to, and it goes:
"ohhhhhhh its just a shot away, just a shot away"
please help, i need the song name and album. i really like this song.

Yeah that's Gimme Shelter.. great song.. one of only a few Stones I like too.. Gimme Shelter was also the only stones song to ever be used in a cartoon.. It was in a holiday episode of Peanuts/Charlie Brown

Well, I guess I'm gonna have to give a little history lesson. Would someone care to name me one of the original(if not THE original, I'd have to check, and I'm lazy, so fuck you) riff-driven songs to make it popular? If you answered a song by CKY, you're a fucking moron. However, if you answered the Rolling Stones with "Satisfaction," I'd be less unimpressed. You see, metal being based on riffs and all, I figure a band that helped pave the way would be acceptable. I guess clad in shadows disagrees.

Hey man, it's my opinion. Here is something you can't argue with, they've been one of the most successful rock bands of all time. Whether you like them or not you gotta give credit where credit's do. They're still rocking and god knows how old they are.
I know where your heading now....ur gonna say who cares about the mainstream, just because someone is popular doesn't mean they are good. The mainstream in the 60's and 70's was way different than it is today....it actually had talent! Some of my favorite music came from those decades, as I'm sure many people on here. To compare the mainstream with today, and that of 30 and 40 years ago is criminal.
