Yngwie Malmsteen
what do you guys think of him. I know hes an arrogant mofo but who woudent be with his skills, i mean come on he plays with an orchestra and on almost all of his live stuff a 3 min song will breakinto a 13 min one becuase he always goes into insane solos. He plays at like 250 tempo with 4 notes a click.

what do you mean. i dont like his cds, but i just get a live compelation of him playing guitar and no vocals, i dont like his music at all but ahh man i sit in aw, he does like crazy solos on a nylon acoustic.

He's garbage because it seems the only thing he can/wants to do is go incredibly fast up and down scales.
Can't he vary his fucking notes? Do some slides? Insane harmonized cool shit??
No. My friend has a live DVD of him....and throughout the hour or two of his playing, all i saw was scales.....up and down, for fucking hours. It's bullshit annoying and really fucking boring.
Gimme Steve fucking Vai anyday over this Malmgarbage ass crap.

i would choose Steve Vai, Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Neil Zaza, or even Jani Liimatainen (Sonata Arctica) over malmsteen. I saw him once and he uhh...messed up a lick...(not to mention he's cocky and eragant (sp?))

In the technical aspect, very few could compare to Malmfucker, but Kurt Cobain was a more exciting guitarist than Yngwie, and at least he died about the same time I got tired of him...

Yng is an excellent guitar payer...i like him a lot....for me isnt boring hehe..../but well...everyone with theyre opinions....but i prefer from aaaaaalll guitarrist to Jason Becker...he is #1....well was....//but damn...dont come and tell me he was only arpeggios....he could and did everything on the guitar.....damn amazing.....Becker rulz!!!

Malmsteen is very good guitarist, but he is very repetitive, mosty of his stuff sounds the same. I heard this song "Arpeggios from Hell", pretty much the same stuff all through the four minutes. Sounds incredibley agile and fast (he is very fast, you gotta give him that), but composition wise, I'd take Petrucci, Satriani, Vai, Gilbert, and even Luca Turilli over Malmsteen any day. Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth is not a virtuoso guitarist but he is an excellent composer, I'd take Mike over anybody, anyday.
