Bass Woods...

what makes a certain type of wood good for basses? what charateristics whould some one look out for in a wood to make a good bass sound? i ask this cause as far as woods go i have no idea what sound difference it'll make

Usually expensive woods! - Bubinga, Ovangkol, Buckeye burl, Spalted Maple..

Have a look around Fodera's site, lots of basses with different exotic woods..

But to be honest, the wood doesnt give a HUGE difference in the tone, its all down to the pre-amp inside to how good/different your bass sounds..

Godamn I love the look of exotic woods on a bass. I want to get a custom made fretless with some really nice exotic woods.
