i heard a little of new stuff, i didnt like it. I talked to a girl today about them, and she said Wishmaster is good like Oceanborn, and from the same time period. so i'll probably get that next, and end it with that. unless they find a new singer and make a GOOD album in the future. |

yeah, Cadacross are great, but i heard they split, could be false. there are probably a number we havnt mentioned, one reason being, i didnt use my collection last time i posted, so those were off the top of my head. I hated leaving the ones out that were already posted here, simply because i care about it a lot. HAH!
Mithotyn are still my favorite viking/folk band, but having dvds, and albums to look forward to from Ancient Rites and Ensiferum, tests that favoritism.
I know Wintersun was mentioned here, but to be honest, i dont hear a folk approach in there much at all. there are parts that are, arguably, folk. but im not sure id call it folk. sounds more like an extreme power metal act to me. and im pretty sure he wasnt going for a folk sound, after reading the interviews ive read. what do you guys say about that? |

I think they are definitely more of a Melodic Death/Folk Metal band more than anything else. Having just listened to them I can definitely pick out some folk elements(well, more faster ensiferum sounding)..but not much.
Ensiferum are kick ass. Thanks Trey for getting me into them. 
I've been looking up mainly folk metal for over an hour and I've realized I want at least $500 to spend on albums/shirts.
Edit - Cadacross are still making their new site...where did you hear of a supposed break up?

Yea, Cadacross is fucking amazing. They haven't done anything for few years, but I don't think they've quit. But it's possible since Georg Laakso was in that accident and he is playing guitar in Cadacross.
