Sure is. Going on and on about true metal, and then dissing guitars? I doubt he's even seen a black person.

Yeah, I read that interview. He also said metal is nigger music. I love Varg, but he's been in the house too long to know what metal is now. There are only about three metal bands that I know of with a black person in them.

Metal is rock. Rock came out of blues. That's what he meant.

I thought of that too, but he used synth the whole time he was in jail, and synth and keyboards are used by rappers and all of that stuff. So, is his use of keyboards "nigger music" too? But if you think about it, music in general all has African roots, like drums for example.

But (someone correct me if Im wrong) I think keyboards were created in Europe. Whereas (again, correct me if Im wrong) guitars were, or were based, on african instruments.

Black Sabbath's "Born Again" album. Probably the worst thing I've ever listened to.

Wrath of the Tyrant is generally considered their first album, and I consider ITNE their second full length with an EP (split with Enslaved) seperating the two. I do enjoy ITNE quite a bit, I enjoy Anthems even more, and the last two I consider absolutely virtuous. Sorry for responding so late, I didn't notice this the first time around.

As with a lot of people, it seems, I was quite disappointed in Symbols Of Failure. I guess it's impossible to out-do or recreate such a brilliant album like Scepter Of The Ancients.

Converge's petitioning the empty sky and when forever comes crashing are their only full releases that I hold in high regard

Great thread... can't think of any bands thet ever got better and better without blowing it at some point.

Metallica - after Master of Puppets
Iron Maiden - after Piece of Mind
Slayer - After Reign in Blood
Sepultura - After Arise
Anthrax - After Amung the Living
Megadeth - After Peace Sells, they made a slight comeback with Coundown to Extinction , but then back to suckin balls.

"All 90's Rush sucks. 'Test For Echo' was the best record of that era. But fuck, after like 20 + years of straight flawless albums they fucked it up BAD with 'Roll The Bones.'"

Have truer words ever been said?

id also say the last led zeppelin album was shit.

Grave, after Hating life...weirdness. Although some will include Hating life into the equation I rather liked it.

I've totally come around on this album. The older I get, the more I appreciate Pantera overall. They're never going to be one of my top 25 bands, but there were a couple of times over the past few months where I just needed to listen to the entire Trendkill album on my Zune. It just works.

Another strange little piece of info is that the older I get, the more I hate the generic, adolescent, testosterone, bro!, aggro-rock that is Vulgar Display of Power. If it weren't for Reinventing the Suck, I would say that Vulgar is their worst album, and that includes I Am the Night.

Trendkill I now have up there with Far Beyond Driven and Power Metal.

Vulgar was the album that kept me from getting into Pantera way back when I hated Phil's personality but, now that I've really gotten into them (thanks to Trendkill) I enjoy Vulgar a lot if I don't take it seriously and enjoy it simply for what it is (your description exactly, although I don't think its generic for its time).
