Y'know how there's that whole thing with weed being a gateway drug to much more effective drugs for getting a better high? Same goes for music. Slipknot is like the weed you start out with, but the high it can give you is signifigantely less (supposedly) than say crack (ANAL Cunt, forgive the pun), or... I hope you get the idea already. Slipknot is NOT heavy. The heaviest they ever have been would have to be Iowa, but no. They are not a heavy metal band.
Your next step is to get some Dimmu Borgir and some Cradle of Filth.

Their Self Titled one was REALLY nu-metal, and Iowa was actually closer to... well, the opposite of that.
Ther third one lost it's flare to me really quickly. It just turned real poppy sounding, and their "Before I forget" video was... lame. So what if they didn't have their masks on? Who are they? KISS? Nuh-uh.
What really turned me off to Slipknot was their lawsuit against Burger King for that commercial. That just screamed "sell-out" there. They act like they were the inventers of the whole mask gimmick. And it was really hypocritical of them since they too were threatened with a lawsuit for "Purity."
I still listen to them now and then. They're alright to listen to when you are cleaning or doing work; if I were listening to CC, I would be dancing around like a fag and banging my head. Slipknot's like Linkin' Park and Korn to me.
... oh god. Horrible thought; Slipknot with 7 string guitars and a 5 string bass.
