Some months ago, I read that an asteroid was on its way here, and would hit us real hard in about 17 years. That is something to worry about. But, as we all know, it won't kill all of us in just one blow. It depends very much on where it hits.
The question is: Where do YOU think it will hit?
The scientists says it will hit the pacific ocean, because it is really fuckin huge, but my guess is New York.
Everything happens in New York, it seems. Godzilla went to New York. In Independence Day they came straight to NY. In Armageddon, it started to rain hot stones from outer space in New York.
It is obvious.

I think they just determined the Pacific through basic probabilities, and since it is largest, odds are it would hit there over anywhere else. I'd say either an ocean, or somewhere in Asia, personally, for almost the same reasons. Who knows though.

i think its gonna hit a lost place on earth and then giant miniature space hamsters will be released from it(its not an asteroid, its an alien spaceship run by giant miniature space hamsters) and they'll all destroy the talking spagetti bowls from earth

dude, if they have a whole fuckin 17 years, they'll have more then enough time to plan a way to change the course of it....shooting a missle at it will only break it up, in which case, more peices will hit more places which will be more disaster

Wally's right, but the newest Godzilla movie of a couple years ago took place in NY (cause it was made by Hollywood....not some japanese film company).

I haven't heard anything about this asteroid....but i also don't have the discovery channel anymore, and i cancelled my subscription to Astromnomy magazine over 2 years ago. If scientists predict it will hit the pacific, then i'm pretty sure it'll hit the pacific. In which case.....I'M SAFE!!!! w0000000!!! Well......for maybe a couple months.

Depending on where it hits in the pacific.....it could wipe out all of the Aussies (bye fbs!!) or, most of the western coast in canada and the states. But i'm far more eastern, so i won't be affected by it.

Just to put some perspective on this: - last asteroid was 200,000km from the atmosphere... and in cosmological terms that's a near miss.

I doubt we have very much to worry about.

We must also bear in mind that no matter where a meteor hits, it could very well wipe us all out. Even a 6-10 mile wide one, which is considered small compared to many others, if it hits the Earth, we're all very much fucked. My astronomy/physics teacher talked to us all about it one day, but I don't feel like explaning all of what he said about it.

besides, even if you dont get flooded or disintegrated, theres a major chance that the dust cloud will cover most of the earth, blocking sunlight, so instead of dying right away, you'll die slowly and painfully
