If you don't have the new The Day Everything Became Nothing album "Invention: Destruction" you don't like grindcore. Period.

Great album. I love the how Jay from Fuck...I'm Dead did guest vocals. Sounds killer. Although for some reason (probably cause I'm stupid) I like the production off of Le Mort better. It had more of a violent guitar tone.

Robinson is one of the most brutal/craziest grind bands I've ever witnessed. They played a fucking great show too when I seen them.

most of the bands termed as such were grindcore bands. "powerviolence" was entirely west coast slang like 10 years ago, started as a joke that some fools took seriously.

That's interesting, never knew that. I always though 'power violence' was just a term used to describe more obscure grindcore.

its the same with screamo,emo-violence,no-wave,noise punk. there are tons of names that are pushed by labels or stupid mags like spin, that had origins with bands that had nothing to do with why they are called that.

i swear the powerviolence name came around the same time as those slap-a-ham festivals<and incredible comps> that went down in california years ago. political grindcore bands of the 90s, which is ironic because the message is both anti-violence and anti-government for most of the bands. its possibly the stupidest term to describe a style of music.

Powerviolence is just the fastest form of grindcore. It's basically punk with a hint of grind.
I kinda hate Charles Bronson because Mark McCoy is such a fucking art-fag. It sucks because they form like 20 minutes away form where I live, and most bands around me don't go anywhere.
Funny thing is Victory signed this band called "The Audition" and now I guess they are really big. They opend up for my band one time and all their faggot emo fans liked Jimmy's Band even more than The Audition because they thought it was a the most insane thing they ever heard.

Anyway, listen to the Spazz song "Hardcore Before Mark McCoy Was Emo Semen."

i like charlse bronson but dont know anything about them. i thought they were from Dekalb, illinois and existed around 95-96. broke up as another failed shitty band, released a discography.....................then proceeded to sell thousands and attained a cult following in that strange way some bands do.

thier music is so dumb it rules, they were like straight out of high school when they broke up or something. the singer sounds like a chick and the music is the most generic hardcore 10x faster than humanly possible. they are a novelty, good for an adrenaline rush, the lyrics were genuinely funny, the drummer was a single kick monster. ebro, who sat in on los crudos's last few years

das oath on the other hand sucks.

the thing about powerviolence is i never heard anyone use it to describe anything period, even when i first got into the shit years ago. id look in a maximum rocknroll and id see the term applied to bands mostly from the west coast<i could be wrong here,i havent read a MRR in years>, i remember a spazz interview where they were totally denouncing the term, talking about it originally being a joke<this was like 8 or so years ago when i read this, my memory is really fuzzy>same thing with a charlse bronson interview<in thier own discography cover, they got band interviews, hard to fucking read>, they were ragging on it. they said something to the effect of power violence being whatever band MITB namedropped in that song<there is a song in thier D.I.Y. cd>where they say

"no comment, crossed out, capitalist casualties, west coast powerdrivers, man is the bastard...................lets fucking go kick ass!!!.

i always associated it with left wing, vegan grindcore scene, MITB being like the the head honchos. its no different from early grind with the message of political hardcore/punk.

funny there isnt more political bands nowadays, with the wars and all

I tend to prefer technical and political grind bands so nasum and carcass are at the top of my list. I also really dig listening to ion dissonance and daughters. Great bands. A lot of my favourite grind bands are ones I found on myspace ironicaly enough. Some that are really worth listening to would be pencil lead syringe, scrambled defuncts, the leviathan's mandible which is what's left of PETA is at the door and I'm holding a gun to the cats head.
