He's a famous blues guitarist.

One of his songs is particularly famous because he sustains a single note for like a whole minute.

He was one of the on/off guitarist's in Thin Lizzy for a few years in the 70's appeared on the 'Black Rose' album, guessed appeared on the 'Nightlife' album.

The sustained note you refer to is in the live version of Parisienne Walkways a song which first appeared on his solo album 'Back on the Streets' it was co written and featured the late Phil Lynott on bass and vocals.

He realeased a stash of metal albums in the early 80's, 'Corridors of Power', 'Dirty Fingers', 'Victims of the Future' and a live album called 'We Want Moore'(ho ho a playful pun eh!) which featured a duet with geordie actor Jimmy Nail!

After the mid 80's he went a bit bluesy and arse but I recently saw him perform a storming version of Red House at a 60 years of the Fender Strat concert on TV!
