Stupid monk!

I just got back from the snow at Thredbo tonight after a trip. When I was hiking up Mt Kosciusko,I came across a Buddhist monk in a orange robe.I walked past him,and then he turned and stopped me with his hand.
The monk had his arm on my shoulder, and shut his eyes.He then told me that I,am a re-incarnation of the enemy soldier, that blew some kind of grenade near him,and burnt his back in Vietnam.
He showed me these scars, and they looked pretty brutal. He then forgave me for it,and told me the re-incarnation of the soldier that killed my previous incarnation is webbed somewhere in my life, and is/will cause me great harm.
This was one of the most disturbing instances in my life, and even more,I had deja-vu all week of a few events that happend, that I recall dreaming about. What would you make of it?

I think you should have asked the next person who walked up right behind you if a monk with obvious pychoses had made any ridiculous claims about them. Then, you could have laughed about what the crazy Buddhist said to both of you and gone for a beer.

Also, a person who died in the Vietnam War (killed by another soldier) would have died 20 years before you were born, you dupe.

ME.

I SAY IT DOESN'T EXIST.

I can prove to you how the belief was constructed with a paper and pencil in 20 minutes.

thats kinda fucked up. im thinking maybe that you looked like the dude in vietnam that this guy got such a traumatic experience with. that is if the monk has seen the dude. just a thought

george carlin had a stand up routine going into reincarnation that was cool. he mentioned the fact that there are more people around nowadays and wondered where all the new souls came from

The deja vu is a mind trick. He planted the idea in your head and since it freaked you out a little, it carried on from there. Why he stopped you? Probably a gut feeling that he wanted to have. Buddhists are all about reaching higher states of peace and humanity. If he had a traumatic experience with an anonymous someone's past incarnation (which he subconsciously chose as you), then to come face to face with that person and forgive them for their horrible deed would be something that takes great control over emotions and shows a lot of peace of mind about past negative experiences. He did this because he wants Buddah to recognize him as a very forgiving man. Whether or not it really happened, I think this is all it is. As the saying goes, "If you think elves cause rain, then every time it rains you'll see proof of elves' existence". Don't let someone's religious beliefs and its vague connection to real life fool you. There's an explanation for everything -- so never jump to conclusions if you can't be sure. And never let a thought run too long. Because then you'll just reassure your idea with every little thing that happens, even though those little things will in reality have nothing to do with your idea. The point is, I don't think this is anything to worry about. At all.

Wow, that's weird, I'd have probably kicked his ass and shouted "GRENADE!" at him until he went away.

Thats an interesting thing to have happened. Even if you believe in reincarnation it shouldn't bother you - he's just telling you what you already know. He is also placing meaning on the inevitable that someone is going to hurt you. Someone is always going to hurt you (or at least try).

Yeah,I thought of that.I was thinking re-incarnation didnt occur right after the time of death.

Very true, though with the circumstances, its hard not to give it another thought. He had an apprentice with him, too. Also the way to stopped me,he looked like he was watching me from afar.I kind of knew he was going to talk to me.Also,he was wearing no footing in the snow, but only a orange robe within 500 meters of the summit, which is the highest elevation in Australia and was bloody cold.
Also, the comments about him 'wanting' to forgive me,sound interesting.Thats what I would like to beleive.

I don't realy believe in reincarnation, but reality and believe is a subjective thing.

My brother believes that the number 72 comes up more than any other number. Now every time he sees it or 27, or those two numbers side by side in another larger number, he says "LOOK! Seventy-two!" Which I say to him after something along the lines of "Shut Up." or "You're an Idiot."
