Hey does anyone recommend a nile CD


i'm looking to get into some Death

I listen to mainly thrash and some COB and Mastodon and Maiden ( and a little BLS)

Krisiun, Deicide, Cannbial Corpse, Morbid Angel, they should be the first death metal bands you look into

Try some Iniquity, not that popular but kick ass....

nile's newest one "anhilliation of the wicked" rocks pretty hard, but "in their darkened shrines" is right up there as my favorite.

I'm going to add Possessed to that list, considering the guy mainly listened to thrash, and Possessed, being the first death metal band, were heavily influences by thrash metal, of course.

But ya, Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Cryptopsy, Morbid Angel, Death, Deicide, Origin, Suffocation, Decapitated, Gorguts, Psycroptic and Necrophagist. All are now your favorite bands.

For the Nile album I'd go with In Their Darkened Shrines or Annihilation of the Wicked as well. The death metal bands listed are all pretty good, unique and (relatively) easy to find so their a good place to go. Except I'd add Immolation (Close to A World Below + Unholy Cult) to the pile.

If you want melodic death, I recommend:

Amon amarth - Once sent from the golden hall
God dethroned - into the lungs of hell
And any Opeth

Other death metal:

Necrophagist, there is no way you cant like them.
Nile - in their darkened shrines
Cryptopsy - And then you'll beg (None so vile is better IMO but, beg is easier to get into)
Insision - revealed and worshipped (quite thrashy/swedish sounding DM)

If you like the tech stuff, try visceral bleeding - remnants revived

Also, check out Autopsy, the music is simple and slower, but there are some great riffs, and the vocalist sounds like hes about to eat your grandmother while fucking you in the eye. Brutal.

Martyr too. Check them out. More on the technical side but who cares. They are amazing.

those are good bands ten ton, but i wouldnt recommend abysmal torment and lust of decay to a death metal noob. thats working backwards, the classics should come first

Carcass was one of the first metal bands I discovered after hearing one of the all-pivotal gateway bands, Slayer.


Whatever you do, don't listen to Jungle Rot

The faster more technical bands may be too throttling if you're just getting into death metal, so download these three songs :

1. Bloodbath - Eaten
2. Morbid Angel - God Of Emptiness ( I've gotten so many people into metal from this one song )
3. Nile - Sarcophagus

Also listen to some Behemoth. Much death metal can be an acquired taste, but Behemoth have reeled a lot of people I know into listening to metal.
