If you want to make a living doing music, sight reading can help immensely. Its almost a trade in itself.

Tab in guitar pro is displayed in tab and standard notation, although I suppose if you don't want to look at the tab it might be a bit annoying...

If guitar pro won't do the job, the I think it's a good idea.
Personally it doesn't bother me, because I can read tab more fluently than standard notation.
