No harm in something being generic so long as it's good. I feel that Disgorge are reasonably generic but I also feel that they're excellent at what they do and stand out above the other generic bands by virtue of their stronger material.

i agree with John. Disgorge are not exactly pushing the boundaries of originality but, while still sounding like a gazillion bands before them, they're managed to create their own identity.
Consume The Forsaken and (to a lesser extent) Parallels of Infinite Torture are great, brutal albums. |

I dont understand how alot of you guys think grind is more brutal than death metal. Its just too... gloomy. The guitars are too fuzzy, the production is often bad, and the vox just seem quiet to me (eventhough they're the loudest thing in the mix besides the drums). Death metal just seems to have more action in it, you know? Anyway, youll see me headbang to Fucked with a Knife before a Romperonperdomperomp song. (Ive never been able to spell/say that)

brutal to me is either really fast (anaal nathrakh) and unlistenable or really low and beastly (guttural secrete breakdowns)
