hey i only speak english, do some band names have meaning in another language, or are they made up, like:
opeth
dimmu borgir
bal sagoth

Pronounced "dim-moo bore-gear", the Dimmuborgir is a large area of unusually shaped lava fields east of Lake Mývatn, on Iceland. The Dimmuborgir area is composed of various caves and rock formations. It would seem that this has been formed from a lava-lake, out of which molten lava flowed and left behind strange formations. The most famous cave being Kirkjan - the Church - high with a large gothic style vault. Dimmu=foggy/dark, Borgir=castle/fortress.

While I'm at it, Thyrfing is a cursed sword, given to one of Odin's heirs(don't remember his name). Whomever wields that sword, shall be struck with disaster.
I personally wonder about Borknagar. It sounds like something norse.

i read this on opeth's site: the name originally started as opet, which was the city on the moon or moon city in some book, then they added the h later on

Cirith Ungol
Gorgoroth
but i dont have a clue what they mean, cirith ungol was a city i believe |
