guitar theory for metal books

Hi all,
Alright, I've been playing guitar for almost a year now, and i'd like to learn more about the theory. Is there any books out there on theory that you guys would recomment for a beginner guitar player?

If your not particular about learning from a book. The internet is a great resource. It's free too! Just search google for "music theory for beginners" you'll get an assload of hits.

A good beginning theory book is "Music Theory for guitar". I also recommend "Guitar fretboard workbook". Both books contain exercices.
cheers

Most of my theoretical knowledge is from the Internet, quite a bit from here at MTabs Theory Forum.
The rest is from magasines and some an old Metallica tab book I was given by my cousin when I first began, back about a year ago.
It's important to analyse what you learn and try to link all the bits you pick up, like chords with intervals, scales with modes.

I would recommend a teacher. The internet tends to confuse more people than it does help as far as music theory is concerned. Every guitar teacher I ever had said the same thing. Or if you can ask someone questions, rather than read it. that way you wont misinterpret it

This book may look cliche and gay but wow did it help!!

you can find em at your local guitar shop

everything metal - from power chords, to percussive strumming, to lead techniques, to tremolo picking, to whammy bar, to raging solos...

Im reading a book called total guitar right now, very good.

I could see how a teacher would be very helpful. I'm more of a diy though. How much does a teacher run anyway?

cyberfret.com has a pretty good section on theory, and it pretty much takes you by the hand.
