Vocals + Guitar/Bass
I didnīt know if I should put this in the guitar or the vocals section...well anyway...is anyone of you playing in a band doing the vocals and playing guitar/bass?
I would be interested in how you are learning to do it both. Is it just practice or are there some things which are needed to know?
I noticed that it is necessary that you got the lyrics in your mind, because it sucks to play the guitar and look on a sheet of paper at the same time.

i find it easier when i'm playing our songs rather than covers. i just play the song and concentrate on the lyrics more in my head, mainly 'cos i'm playing rhythm so it's easy. the vocalist in my other band plays and sings together real easy though...he just has the capacity to do both without concentrating much. and he's only been playing guitar a few months.

Play bass, if your in a death metal band, its usaly all like tremelo, and if you mess up you should be ok for few secs to find your place and get back in. No offence, but a lot of the time Bass Players arent always heard. So this can be an advantage. Unless your Les Claypool. =)

your voice is like an instrument just like the guitar. It really isn't that hard as long as your vocals have a rhythm that fit into what you are playing. Its kind of like playing two different ryhthms that fit into one another, or two of the same rhythms even.

Its not that hard but in my bands i decided to do vocals full time because when im playing guitar and doing vocals, theres not alot of movement. The vocalist is way usually gets the crowding moving.

Yeah i play guitar and do vocals in my band what we do is have certain riffs which i can sing to and then have technical parts so there isnt vocals all the time. But what band has vocals going all the time?
It also helps to have the parts memorised so you can pull them off flawlessly.
