I'm not for sure but I would think the whole tonic, subtonic stuff is for diatonic scales, cause the rules don't stand for the diminished scale for sure.

Yea, I'm just wondering like what the rules would be for scales that have more than 7 tones. Or less than 7 tones. Like the rules for weird scales like the augmented scale, diminished, pentatonic, etc.

I would like to know as well. I bet the diminished/antonal scales don't have rules, but what about the 5, 6 & 8 tone scales? Do the rules for diatonic scales still stand for that? I bet the rules still stand for the degree. Even though you have less tones in the scale, the rules for what can follow a V chords are prob constant for all V chords in any scale. We'll wait for guitar_demon or mansley to hit this shit up.
