No, they're pretty terrible.
Same goes for the guitars they're in, usually.

Alexi Laiho used to use em right? they can't be that bad in that case. He probbaly used real good gear though

the h4's are alright imo... though, passive pickups arent exactly emg's strongpoint.

They have a bad rep because they are in shitty guitars.But,they are better than the majority of stock pickups in lower end guitars.

I played on an H4, and I liked it a lot. I'm gonna take the duncan designed bridge out of my rr-3 when it gets here, and pop an h4 in.

Any HZ is horrible, they are like the Seymour Duncan... Duncan Designed pickups, which are cheap ass terrible pickups with the Duncan name attached. Spend the extra cash & get the real deal.

alexi laiho wears gay makeup too, that doesnt mean its a good thing.. why couldnt he go with Alex or Al, anything by alexi, he's such a femme.
H4z are the best of the passive EMGs i played.. not so fun as 81s though

hehe ya, but i like the H4, its pretty good, theres better though, and dont give a bad rep to Duncan designed, in some guitars there good, i played some Duncan Designed Schecters that sounded great
