After a long fairly unsuccesful career, Vehemence breaks up
Vehemence - Calls It Quits
posted on 10-15-2005 @ 1:41 AM
Arizona-based death metallers VEHEMENCE have posted the following message on the band's official website:
"8 years after it all started, we decided that now is the time to throw in the towel. It was fun, and we would like to thank all the people who have supported us along the way. VEHEMENCE was and is a huge part of our lives, but at this point its time to start fresh. The death of Vehemence has since spawned 3 new bands from its ex members. ABIGAIL WILLIAMS featuring Mark, Andy and Bjorn of VEHEMENCE ( www.myspace.com/abigailwilliams), HE WHO BINDS HIMSELF featuring Nathan ( www.myspace.com/hewhobindshimself), and as John stated “I'm looking for members for a new band and I am also available for touring. Currently I'm also affiliated with several other side projects which I will release soon.”
We still have a batch of new shirts coming this year, as well as a new remixed version of our first self released disc entitled The Thoughts From Which I Hide, that will be available exclusively at www.vehemence.com. VEHEMENCE may do shows every now and then, but will not be a full time band. Just keep checking our website as that will still be up and running."

You can't forget about the unforgetable song title; "God I Fucking Hate you!"
Or something like that.

This is really sad. Their last two albums were among the best releases the last years. The titles are pretty dumb yeah, but the meaning behind them are really good. The lyrics on "God was created" were together forming an awesome story.

Jesus, I thought everyone loved them. That they were one of the 'popular' metal bands.
Oh wel, tis a pity as they were not bad.

If you guys can figure I was hit by the news. They were my favorite death metal band and now they're gone. To me, the band died when Nathan quit. But here's a couple messages from John and Bjorn:
Yah guys, it is true. I tried hard to persuade the guys to keep it together, but they felt this was the best time to throw in the towel and move on to the next chapter. I started to feel it too after what was said and presented. Basically, the overall vibe of Vehemence was decreasing. The songs were good, and I think the whole thing with Sean Vandegrift not producing lyrics for 6 months, and not moving down to Phoenix had something to do with the frustration and tension within the band leading to its demise. It would have been an awesome new Vehemence record, a lot of twists and turns in the music, most diverse record ever. With replacing Nathan Gearhart founder of Vehemence, and creator of the name, it would be a different kind of presence; it would also be far from the lyrics/stories with another guy writing for us. We didn’t really give Adam Cody a chance to write a whole lot either maybe a couple weeks and the stuff he came up with was pretty awesome stuff to say the least. Some bands just overwrite their old singers and move on with a new vibe and new era, but that wasn’t the case with us unfortunately.
It’s a shame we didn’t quit during the peak of our career, that’s usually 5 albums in with some worldwide touring, but better now than later I guess. I am upset about this, just like all the others out there that really dug our band expecting something new and groundbreaking. A lot of new material will not be heard in the Vehemence fashion, done by Dannov, Schroeder, & Kozuback anymore instead you’ll hear bits and pieces of it in the other bands/projects we are affiliated with. Hope you guys enjoy whatever music we put out next.
Myself, I am going to try to pursue a life on the road that can tour for 2 years straight with a band I create, join up with, or collaborate with, and I think with working with the right diehard 110% individuals, that will occur.
The Black Dahlia Murder show last night at The Clubhouse, the show was nearly sold out, and the bands put on one hell of a good performance. All these bands have come a long way, This was BDM's first headlining tour, the bros gave a farewell to Vehemence during their second song Closed Casket Requiem. Cheers to them for informing the Arizona audience about the unfortunate event. Death Metal and beach balls who would have thought.
-John

It’s just seemed like the right thing to do. Trust me, I'm bummin on this... Seeing what people are saying really bums me out. The Black Dahlia dudes even said something on stage last night... made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, heh. But without Nate, it was just something else. Don't get me wrong, if we did record the new album, it would have been great still but not Vehemence.
We'd have to prove ourselves, and that’s a load of shit. I really think we came up with some of our strongest music this year though. Some of the tunes I wrote are gonna be used in my new band, Abigail Williams. I'm sure John will use his songs in his next band. If you want to hear what the next Vehemence could have been, you're just gonna have to check out our new bands once we put some cd's out.
Abigail Williams is going into the studio at the end of the month. We should have an EP out on a small European label in the upcoming months. I'll keep you all posted. -Bjorn

Wuaw Congratulations. You just made an ass out of yourself. Have you heard either of the bands? I presume you haven't or otherwise you severely lack some aural skills, because that is to bands that hasn't got pretty much in common. Besides they're deathmetallers.
Sad to hear the news. Sounds like frustration over the nevercoming breakthrough

Yeah I have...and the guitar work of Vehemence sounds somewhat like Amon Amarth. I also thought the vocal work sounded somewhat the same. Amon Amarth is far, far, far superior to Vehemence anyday of the fucking week. It isn't Amon Amarth's fault that Vehemence just copied their method...it doesn't degrade Amon Amarth. Vehemence is like any of those Gothenburg clone bands...they don't degrade the bands that came up with the genre/method/whatever, they are simply worthless pieces of shit. So what I was getting at was that Vehemence was a wretched clone of Amon Amarth, period.

How sad. They've degraded themselves to hosting their bands on myspace.
