1200 bucks

ok im about to come into some money and sell all my shit exept guitars.
all together ill have about, you guessed it, 1200 dollars (maybe a few hundred more). but then ill be complettely gearless. im looking into half stacks, and i know i may ask this too much, but what would you reccomend for amp and cab and cables and such. im not getting the bv. i already had and just fianlly worked up some acceptable tones. i also already have a 4x12 cab but speakers are old and 2 are blown. so maybe more money on head and save on just buying 4 speakers and wring it myself ?
i dunno. yall may get tired of seeing these kinda threads but i never do.
thanks,
nathan

a quad of celestion g12t-75's shouldnt run you more than like $200-$250
then if you're good to go on your guitar and fx and shit, that leaves you like $1,000 to drop on a head. and that gives you plenty of options. what are some things you "need" from an amp? for starters.

well i need a good distortion (yeah i know very generic and based on opinion). ok sorry. well im not much into too much distortion. i like a good midful ballsy tone. i dime my mids on almost all amps. just a really in your face EXTREME (the band) distortion. but i also want a crunch cnanel. a bluesy tone. and the clean channel well need to be pretty pristine. i play many many diff kinda of music. but my main focus is that lead channel.
effects dont matter. looks dont matter eiither. i really like the tone of the framus's. but i dont think i can afrord that. i dont think im helping much. ok well i really dont want a black metal/ death metal distortion. i like...killswitch tone? yes, something along those lines.

used h&k mkI triamp or a used mesa dual recto(which you would definately load with el34's eventually ). if you look hard enough you can find em around the thousand dollar mark.

The only thing I can think of is a used Peavey 5150 or XXX with a 4x12.

in that case, it may sound stupid, but how 'bout a nice clean fender + a boutique distortion pedal, like a bottle rocket?

i was acctually thinkin that (the fender). i played a... what was it...delux 2x12 and i really liked it. they got that in a head? im also (still) looking for a good deal on a ultra. i like the fender sound for a real crunchy chom chom sound but i want that real dark voiced lead channel for, well, lead. i dont wanna have to boost my amp. but ill try that with the fender. im making a music run ion a couple of weeks.
my dad was in a band a couple of years ago with some guys that played fenders. kinda power metal stuff but they were gettin it. i cant remember what they were. they had red on them though, maybe a red button or sumthing. if anyone knows what that is id apreciate it.

how does the triamp sound compared to the mesa. ive played the mesa, but never with el34s. and ive never seen the triamp localy, so unless i find one ill never get to hear it. im really leaning towards the h&k though, because it seems "high teck" and...well its pretty, haha.

I'd say ENGL fireball or 530. Both can be had for $1000, and the 530 at half that. I have the 530 and it's damn versatile. great cleans and crunch, and brutality when you want it. You'd need to drop a little more on a power amp though, but since you have $1000 that should be easy. You could even nab yourself some cables and a rack case with the extra cash if you get a Peavey Classic series or a Mesa 20/20

I like that amp. It has a good distortion and great clean. My friend has one and I play it almost everyday at practice.
