Good Cover Songs?
This is an obsession I've had for quite some time. I'm always up for hearing a band cover another band's work, its fun and interesting. My favorites are probably:
Slayer - Hand of Doom(Black Sabbath)
Dying Fetus - Born In A Casket(Cannibal Corpse)
The Crown - Arise(Sepultura)
In Flames - Murders In the Rue Morgue(Iron Maiden)
Opeth/Obituary - Circle of the Tyrants(Celtic Frost)
Metallica - Am I Evil(Diamond Head)
Six Feet Under - In League With Satan(Venom)
S.O.D. - Dethroned Emperor(Celtic Frost)
Cannibal Corpse - No Remorse(Metallica)
The list could go on but it'd get old. Just wonderin what you covers you guys dig, I'm up for hearin some new ones...

I'll just say to listen to the NIB Black Sabbath Tribute CDs, because they're full of good covers, at least most of them anyway. Burn in Hell by Dimmu Borgir's good, and Satriani covered a couple songs, Cryin', which was originally done by like Billie Holiday or somebody like that, and a song off of his newest cd that I can't remember, ah well, fuck thinking, I'm done.

Is it a rip-off of Seasons in the Abyss?
I haven't heard any of those in a while, but I THINK there were similarities?
Even the name....
Didn't like S.O.D. anyway.

I forgot this one - Uncurbed - anything...
Those guys know how to cover, and they have pretty cool narrations and special effects.

Its a complete piss-take of Slayers style in general. Apparently the singer worked for days on his Tom Araya impersination before they recorded. Anyone who likes Slayer will recognise which songs are ripped of, "DO YA WANNA FRY!". Get it its cool!

ICED EARTH DID A GOOD COVER OF ELECTRIC FUNERAL BY SABBATH THAT WAS GOOD. A FUNNY ONE IS THE MISFITS COVER OF MONSTER MASH. PUNK SUCKS THOUGH.

It's kind of on topic, but kind of not...does anyone like the Orgasmatron covers by Satyricon or Sepultura? I really don't like either one, but I didn't want to start a shitty cover songs thread

i've never been a big fan of covers but i really enjoyed:
Krabathor - Four Horsemen
so brutal compared to Metallica's original.
another would be:
Cradle of Filth - Hallowed be thy Name
because they just did it so well and didn't just do a generic copy of the original.
also:
Opeth - Remember Tomorrow
off the My Arms Your Hearse re-release

well i suppose so. because it mentions Celtic Frost for Circle of the Tyrants at the beginning of the paragraph opening with:
"..are the only 2 covers we've recorded." mentioning Celtic Frost and no other bands you are only left to assume the other was also a Celtic Frost song. but i'm not exactly a CF fan so i dont know. i dont really care anyway..Opeth do it nicely whoever its by

opeth / obituary - circle of the tyrants by celtic frost both r great, as mentioned in the first post
also very well are: earth crisis / black dahlia murder - paint it black (rolling stones)
both very fast and heavy
best slayer cover maybe is vader - silent scream, but there are a crapload of great ones
scar culture - wolverine blues (entombed) kinda nice, cause i never expected someone to cover that song, especially a grind (i think they are grind) band
impaled - carneous cacoffiny by carcass is very good, too...i got the tribute some weeks ago, best track
entombed - march of the SOD / Sargent.D and the SOD
heaven shall burn - the 4th crusade (bolt thrower)
monstrosity - angel of death (slayer)
nailbomb - exploitation (doom)
i bet i forgot the half, ah nevermind
