Im looking to buy a midrange guitar and Im deciding between a few different models:

Jackson DKMG
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...ase_pid/511496/

Jackson DXMG
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...ase_pid/511661/

ESP LTD KH-202
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...ase_pid/516639/

ESP LTD F-250
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...ase_pid/516639/

They all have EMG HZ's so regardless of the guitar I get, I will most likely replace the pickups with a EMG 85/81 set. Im leaning towards the DXMG because I probably dont need the "turbocharger" that the DKMG has since Im going to be installing active pickups anyway.

What do you guys think?

Well all the guitars are almost at the same level, but the thing i dont like about the DKMG, DXMG and KH202 is that they have bolt on necks, but the F250 has a neck thru one which provides more sustain. Also it has 1 volume and 1 tone so its gonna make it much easier installing EMGs into it than the KH202's 2 vol and 1 tone. I'd say go for the F250 but thats just my opinion, you should compare the specs of those guitars

Btw the link for the F250 is the same as the link for the KH202.
The F250 is at http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...ase_pid/516663/

The kelly model looks fucking awesome! It was amazing when marty friedman played it with megadeth

Anyway i think its better to not get a bolt on so that u have easier access to the higher frets and much more sustain

Ok, heres what I ended up getting:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...item=7376995290

I bought it off ebay because I was really wanting to get a cheaper used guitar. I just need a beater. I'll give my Peavey Vandenberg Custom a break for a while. My choices were really between a DXMG and a DKMG, there weren't many if any auctions on ebay for F-250's or a KH-202. Plus this guitar came with the EMG85/81 pickups that I wanted to put in anyway....and it came with a case too which is always a plus.

Thanks for the advice.

In like a month maybe I'll have 1500$ for a guitar. I like the RR model and I want to play things like Children of bodom, metallica, cradle of filth....
My choice is in a Jackson or an ESP, but I'm totally confused on what to choose fom, maybe you could clear me out?
and doesn't ESP have a RR-like model? I love the shape so bad

You can only get the ESP RR model only with a custom order or buying an Alexi Laiho or Kai Hansen signature guitar. I recommend buy a Jackson RR and stick some bad ass EMGs in there

Schecter makes some awesome 7 strings imo. And check ibanez 7 strings if your looking for one with a trem system

I don't how much money that is but I can give you some ideas of good metal guitars in a wide price range, snice I'm in the US I'm not gona list the prices though.
classic:a Les Paul is a solid choice, Epiphone or Gibson whichever you get is a great chose, and it just a great ax to boot. For even less you could get a Squier fat Start, it wouldn't be my first choice, but I have bought one when I only had a little cash and it really didn't sound too bad.
modern: Ibanez makes a couple of differnt ax's that sound really good and don't cost too much, the GAX or AX lines are a good place to start. They also make some cheap RG's and those really rock. Also PRS has started makeing a line called SE their almost the same thing as the Custom line (main changes are wood and arch tops) and have alot of differnt guitars to chose from, all of witch are really cheap. Theirs also my personal favorit Dean, Dimebags guitar of choice (I know he used Washburns for a wile, but he played Deans snice he was 12). Dean has a wide varity of "metal" guitars, that adverage price being $300 in the US (I don't know what that is the UK but here thats cheap as hell for such a geart guitar). They have such classics as the flying V and the Z (a Gibson Explorer) and the ML (Dime's guitar), of course to get an actual "Dimebag" guitar it might get a little pricey.
Anyway these are just a few ideas to help you get started on you search, but you'v got to remember the most improtent thing about buying a guitar is that it really hits you, whatever it's called whatever it looks like, and even sometimes whatever it costs. I bought my first ML when I was 13, before I had ever even seen a pic of Dimebag, I just saw it hanging an the wall of that guitar shop and had to have, it took my a month or 2 to get the cash but I had to have it, and thats what really matters. If you start looking at the just the price you might end up with something that dosen't really suite you.
