The question wasn't so much 'Why do you like Wrath of the Tyrant?' as 'Are you crazy for not seeing the great(er) level of brilliance on every other Emperor record?' I also figured he'd want more than the three year old or Napoleon Dynamite answer of 'Because I said so.'
The black metal wars, as anyone who was around then should recall, happened because of the combination of close-minded kvlt-ass black metal fans flooding my forum with threads and their reaction to a few rules (cut out the repeat threads, shut the fuck up about Varg) and a lot of misunderstood joking from people like myself, memnoch, slayme, etc. It ended with the black metallers getting banned from the site for flooding it with nazi propaganda. I don't see how this will cause the same problems. Have a sense of humor about your taste in music and that shit'll never happen.
The short version, for people who don't want to read the above paragraph: Shut up, Dissy. And yeah, you were around then. You broke the 'shut the fuck up about Varg' rule. Anyway, let's all shut the fuck up about that now.
I pretty much just like Emperor, especially their last three. I like Dragonlord, but I'm not sure that qualifies, since anything Eric Peterson writes comes out thrashy. Since Dissection's apparently black metal, I'll say Storm of the Light's Bane. From what I hear about them I might like Immortal but I haven't gotten around to listening to them. That about covers it.
