I guess people are just putting their favourite songs down. OK, I'll do my list but this does not necessarily mean that they're my favourite songs - just songs that have meant something to me at certain points in my life. Here goes in no particular order...

1. Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine
Without this song I wouldn't even be listening to rock/metal

2. Nirvana - Dumb
Reminds me of a time of rejection

3. Cave In - Big riff
Reminds me of the day I split up with one of my ex-girlfriends.

4. Onedice - Life
Reminds me of the day I got back with said ex-girlfriend! We split up a while back so I have mixed emotions when I hear it.

5. Machine Head - Davidian
I'd never heard a Machine Head song but I decided to buy Burn My Eyes because I saw the tab for this song. Back then, they were the heaviest band I was into and they opened up my eyes to more extreme music than grunge.

6. Morbid Angel - Immortal Rites
The first DM song I ever heard and it blew me away.

7. Metallica - One
The only song guaranteed to send shivers down my spine everytime I hear it. That dissonant chord before the outro gets me every time.

8. Alice In Chains - Them Bones
The first song I learnt to play on the guitar all the way through without a mistake.

9. Tool - The Patient
Reminds me of a very special lady.

10. At The Gates - Blinded By Fear
Reminds me of the pub in summertime. Great days!

11. Nile - Unas Slayer Of The Gods
Reminds me of the pub in wintertime. Great days!

12. Morbid Angel - Desolate Ways
Reminds me of all the sad times but still makes me feel good that I've got over them. I love the ambience to this song.

13. Burnt By The Sun - Rebecca
Reminds me of a very special lady.

14. Fear Factory - Self Bias Resistor
Reminds me of my graduation and how proud I felt that day. Also of the relief of getting through my university years and somehow being a more mature human being at the end of it.

That leaves one last song that I want played at my funeral/cremation:

15. Nile - Ruins
To me this symbolises that all things come crashing to the ground in the end and that, eventually, we are all forgotten.

There you have it, the story of my life in song format!

I can't be bothered choosing a whole album but one song that would be a good theme for me would be Strapping Young Lad - Detox

how did I get here tonight?
what am I doing here?
how did I reach this state?
how did I lose my sight?

I'm lost... I'm freaking
and everybody knows... everyone's watching

Sadly, I've been able to relate to that countless times.
