It depends on...

Basically, what you are doing then is adding a 410 cab to your combo as an extra speaker. So long as the ohmage on the speaker in the combo combined with the new cab don't drop below the recommended min. ohmage (usually 4 Ohms) then you're fine. If they are both 8 ohm cabs, and your head (combo) is stable to 4 ohms, then go nuts. But if they are both 4 ohm speaker/cabs, and you can't go as low as 2 ohms it'll fry your head.

Hope this helps ya out and isn't TOO confusing...lol

Cheers.

I thought that when you added resistors to a circuit the ohmage ADDED up, not divided up. I'm confused here.

At any rate the best cab in the world is worth nothing without a decent amp to power it...

So, wait how is it that you can fuck up your head/amp, by using the wrong kind of speaker cab, I'm sorry I'm fucking retarded.

It depends how you connect them up, if you connect them in series, ie.
Code:
<> is a speaker --<>--<>--<>--<>--

then the resistance will be added, so if each speaker is 4 ohms, it'd total 16, however if they are connected thus:
Code:
--|---|---|---| <> <> <> <> --|---|---|---|

the resistance is divided, so if each speaker was 16ohm, the total resistance would be 4

And how do you find out which way it is connected for your external speaker output on your amp? Or is the ext. speaker never in a series with the cab on a combo amp?

Edit: Even better, where is a good site to read about this kind of stuff?
