"Bad News"

Fresh piece inspired by my life and Mania's piece. Thanks for reading. I had to post this in 2 again. Sorry.

" Bad News "

Your smile was so sweet.
Your kiss was, too.
You said we were meant for each other.
We laughed together and shared some good times,
But then the other side began to show through.

Soon the shadows grew longer.
Cutting remarks and vindictiveness.
Blame was everyone else's but your own--
And I was the one who thought she'd change you
Just by giving you some love.

The words cut deeper and deeper.
Your actions spoke loud and clear.
Controlling, demeaning, distorted.
Not knowing from one minute to the next
Whether it would rain or shine.

Year after year of the same old thing.
Promises of change and happiness--
Had no meaning when followed by rage.
Tears once too often and the wall built.
Brick by brick, mortar strong.

Little by little, it showed in the light.
Sad to know why it all happened.
Bad news from days long ago.
Misery and torn expressions--
Kept safe inside to ferment and sour.

Can't turn back those pages of time,
But we can make tomorrows more bright.
A parting of ways, wonder still there--
For someone with troubling times,
But no longer are they mine.

I liked it. It was more strung together than Mania's bit and less angst shining through. I can personally relate to what your saying here. Very good job.

My only question is, what does "mortar strong" mean? I've never heard the word mortar used like that. Are you saying the wall is strong enough to withstand a mortar? Sorry, this just gave me a little confusion.

Love stinks...

It felt like it was finished with
"Kept safe inside to ferment and sour. "

The last four lines felt to me as if we did a 180º but overall I really liked it.

Thanks for sharing.

Tulvox--Mortar goes between the bricks to cement them together so the wall is even stronger.
Glad you liked it, but sorry, you could relate to it. You know what I mean?

Bia--The thing is I know that his crappy childhood and his alcoholic mom abandoning him when he was 8 only to show up when he was 22 were a real difficult time. His dad dropped him off at his grandparents where he and his siblings lived for a very long time. Thank goodness his grandpa taught him to fish because I think that saved his sanity more than a few times. When he finally did get back to his dad's he had some really weird acting step-mothers and his dad had a bit of a temper. He got knocked out with a pool cue in San Francicso when he was in the Navy. After that his moods could be pretty extreme especially if he was drinking. He got mixed up in some needle drugs after he got out. While we were together he went to AA, but it was really hard for him to maintain. We had some rough times. I think the reason for the end to be that way is becasue I don't hate the guy. He just needed to learn alternative behavior and learn more about why he had the feelings he did. I really hope he's found some happiness. He never hit me, but he'd break things or threaten to kill himself once in awhile.

Thanks for explaining mortar. The only way I had heard it used was as a weapon.

My dad recently had a breakdown about wanting to quit drinking. I wasn't so much relating it to a bad childhood though. More so to a past girlfriend, who left quite a bitter taste in my mouth.

Well, the only other mortar I could think of was paired with a pestle so I guess there's a lot of things it could have been! I didn't even think of the weapon, but you're right. That would be a difficult thing to see from that perspective.

Addictions are a hard battle to deal with. A day at a time is all one can do. The only addiction I have right now is to the pc. lol I guess it could be a lot worse! Hope things smooth out. I read the Big Book when he was just so I'd understand a little more. That changed a lot of my attitudes about it for the better. I really didn't have a clue.

Once you've survived a bad relationship I think you become wiser to not repeat the same thing. Hopefully.

My other love is a black screen. Gore website....lots of reality video and photos.
I'd love to see some of you over there, it's less populated than ogrish and has all/better content....if you can handle that sort of stuff.
I dont like posting other Forums urls in Posts but if anyone wants a link....I'm about to go put it in my profile.
Also...the humor section is insanity X 10

Sorry to go offtopic LBxxx but since we're mentioning colored screens.
