Guitar maintanence...

Besides cleaning/polishing your guitar to make it look nice and changing strings, what other things can you do to maintain a guitar so it will last longer/always play and sound the same? Do bridges move out of place?

Not sure if bridges move out of place, maybe on a guitar on a guitar with floyd rose.

The only other thing I know of is if your guitar has a neck bolt thing (don't know exactly what it's called) but your neck can bow slighty over time, adjusting this straightens it out. Not all guitars have em though...

Make sure ur neck doesn't get fucked up somehow. Keep it in a place that's optimal temperature, not too cold or hot.

The cooling/heating system in my house is a piece of shit. Sometimes in my room it can get much warmer than in the rest of the house, and in the winter it doesn't heat up enough and I'll freeze my ass off. Tempature in my room can reach up to 85 F down to 50's or 40's maybe. Are these tempatures a little too extreme? If so, I'll have an excuse for hanging my axe in the living room.

I guess it depends on what woods and crap, but you know, just room temp. like 70 degrees is around the best. Oh, and humidity also is something important.

its called a truss rod, it takes much time to master these fuckin shits, i never know what direction to fucking turn them in, left loosey my ass, cause when i loosened the truss my neck bowed back and it buzzed like a mother fucker, but it still buzzed even if i turned it to the right. still learning how to mater the complete set up on my ran, floyd, truss and all.

yea thats true. i know from experience that too much humidity/wetness will warp the fretboard/ and sometimes the hole guitar.
and if u got to steve vai's site, it says to put ur tounge on the pickup(when pluged into amp). dont do it.

Yeh, that's right..truss rod. I wouldn't have a clue about them either, my old teacher said to take mine to the shop if I needed it done.
