Jackson or Ibanez - please help me!!!
hi...... i have big problem....
i have Jackson PS-4 (performer) - (japan, 24 frets, floyd rose, h-s-h).. i was thinking about changing it for Ibanez RG-470 (japan, h-s-h, lo trs (floyd), wizard II neck)... i `m thinking and thinking... i`m playing death (like suffocation, cryptopsy stuff like this)....... the point is........ changing to new guitar...... or try to repair old?..... Jackson is hm.... kind of "used a lot"....
what i can choose:
-try to change electronic stuff for emg...., try to work with neck,
-buy one-year ibanez rg-470
it`s very difficult for me...... what is better option ?

Ibanez 's cool for bass but not really for guitar
I don't know the health of your Jackson but mine is in bad &
I'm trying to make her feel better
If you've played for a long time with you just can't throw her away
She doesn't deserve that
Pay some attention and respect to your instrument

re: j or i
I think Ibanez guitars are nice for beginners, but if you play a few years, I should go for a jackson guitar instead of an Ibanez.

Jackson
Dude...the older your guitar the better, see, the older your shit is, not only are you more accustomed to playing it, but the neck actually conforms over years and years of sliding up and down on it to your hand. Older guitars just sound better, get you some new hardware, definitely some new pickups or something, EMGs'
(I got the 81 and 85 in the neck) Ibanez guitars feel like toys when I play them, they don't feel durable, I feel like I'll break it just from my normal playing, a lot of you musicians that get custom guitars from Jackson have been playing the same one since they started. Jacksons last like a mother fucker dude.

I normally would suggest an Ibanez over Jackson (personal preference), but I'm going with the Jackson crowd on this one.
The Ibanez has a lo-trs. This unit is pretty much a piece o'crap. If you're gonna go Ibanez, get an RG5xx or higher. They have the edge bridge which is of much higher quality. the lo-trs goes out of tune very easily. There are exceptions to this, but they are few and far between, and often require professional-grade modifications. I would not recommend this unit.
IMO, Jackson and Ibanez are on about the same level. When I see a Jackson with a real Floyd (the Ibz edge is about equivalent) and stock pickups comparable to the Ibanez V7/V8's (be they Seymours or DD's), for $300-$400 used, I'll buy it. I haven't seen one yet, and I'm quite happy with my RG520.
Blindly following either brand really isn't any kind of solution, and you should check both options, and play both axes before deciding on anything. But odds are, you're gonna lose $$ if you go for the RG470, and will have to mod that anyway... so as an Ibanez player, I'm gonna tell you Jackson (or save your money and go for an RG570...)

Go with a Jackson. I own an ibanez and I'm alittle disappointed, the tone and over all sound of mines is weak, but then again,it has single coil pickups(stays in tune nicely though ). So just screw it and keep your jackson - they seem to be more popular w/ the metalists...

ibanez's are great for beginners though. Jackson rules but i wouldn't recommend them for beginners.

he's rite about them sounding better as they age
wat happends is the wood they made it with gets old and the sound "choures" better like a better flow and gives it a "cleaner" sound so id stick with jackson and deftinaly put some egms in

Uhm, well if you're planning on buying an Ibanez, get prestige, the rest isn't that special, I own a sr5 prestige (Bass) myself, and ibanez is pretty sweet in the bass department, I had the choice between warwicks, musicmans etc. but I went for the ibanez.
I would prefer a Jackson though, for guitar, the only ibanez you can compare them to, that's the ibanez prestige range and the signature models (like the JEM's and shit)
the jackson DINKY's have EMG's in them, the ibanez top range shit has di marzio tone zone's and the likes.

you don't have to go prestige, but if wouldn't be a bad idea. An RG5xx, RG6xx, or RG7xx will suffice. The prestige series is pretty nice though.

I know you don't HAVE to go prestige, but when I compare the normal ibanez's to a Jackson, I would go for Jackson, I'm an ibanez freak myself, but the Jacksons are just better...
If I had the money to choose between an american dk27mg and a ibanez JEM, I would go for the Jem, I guess..

Ibanez Edge vs. hardtail (or Jackson licensed Floyd) and Dimarzio aftermarket pu's vs. Hot Zones? No question for me, at least...
Soloist vs. Rg5xx? Soloist by a close call.

True, but I'de go with a jackson with EMG's instead of an normal RG, if it where a ibanez prestige then I'de go for the ibanez.
on another hand, I love the Jackson design...
