Necrophagist sweeps
How does Muhammed do thoses sweeps so perfectly and how do you guys finger the fretboard? I can play some of the solos and some riffs, just not fast. If you enlightened me perhaps i can do better.
P.S. Sorry if this isn't Theory related. Just tell me to post it again somewhere else and I will, mods.

No worries, I'll just move it to Guitar. Unless you want to know some theory behind how he constructs the arpeggios? Let me know and I'll either leave it here or move it to the Guitar Forum

I think the hardest part of thoes sweeps in the solo is the far finger stretch and the rythm, not the speed. Took quite awhile to get but really improve dmy playing.

im terrible at sweeping, but one point of advice is to use your NECK pickup instead of bridge because it is smoother and makes that more fluid sound

DAMN TRUE
also if u sweep on the neck (like touching the fretboard)u wont stick ur pick to deep into the strings (sounds kinda weird) so the motion will be a more smooth, wich makes speed easier (thats my way most of the time though)

For me it is a little about the speed of sweeping, but when I have to sweep from, say, e to e, its like three times harder for me as a sweep from say d to e.

I always play my sweeps lightly palm muting the strings to avoid unwanted noise. So no neck pick up for me, but it still sounds ok. I mostly play solos using neck though.

Yeah just leave it here then. Thanks.
How exactly are you supposed to hold the cord? Example:
------------------14--------
---------------15-----------
------------16--------------
---------16-----------------
--14h17---------------------
-----------------------------
I lay my index across 14. Hammer the 17 with my pinky. I attempt to hold the two 16's with my ring (but it's hard). Then the 15 with my middle. Am I wrong or do I just have retarded fingers?
