You've got to barre those 16's with your ring finger. The hard part is sounding the notes and then releasing the barre quick enough so that the next string is muted. Practise slowly - make sure you still retain the 'sweeping' motion of you picking hand - and gradually up the tempo as you get it down cleanly.

I don't like doing neck pickup sweeps when I play. I feel like I'm cheating. I'd rather play them with the bridge pickup and have a much a much harder time getting it to sound fluid and smooth. The neck pickup is so unforgiving when t comes to sweeps it forces you to get better because at first all your sweeps sound like shit. And you can flip on the neck pickup and just do retarded shit not even fretting all the notes of an arpeggio and it sounds good, like the guitar player for cattle decapitation.

I tend to sweep more on the bridge pickup mainly because I'm just too lazy to switch to the neck pickup
anyways, I've noticed Necrophagist do (I'm uncertain, but I think they've used this before) this-
-------------14-17-14------------------------
----------15----------15-------------------
-------14----------------14----------------
----16----------------------16-------------
-17----------------------------17--------
---------------------------------------
or something.

just do whatever feels/sounds right/nice to u

No way, this post isn't lame at all man. Muhammad and Christian from Necrophagist have truly mastered sweeping. If not, they're pretty damn close. Not only are they fast, they are some of the cleanest sweep pickers I have ever heard. I'm working on sweeping myself once in a while, and I think it'll be a while before I even get close to Necrophagist's sweeps.

Same here, is that considered cheating?

Nah, that's a standard 'C-shape' arpeggio that CC's described, Tim. Since Necrophagist tune to D and often solo in the key of D, the pattern needs to be moved back down to the 12th fret.
If the 14 becomes 13 on the high D then the arpeggio pattern has shifted into a different mode and should be:
Code:
-------------13-17-13-------------
----------15----------15----------
-------14----------------14-------
----15----------------------15----
-17----------------------------17-
----------------------------------

Yeah, that's the arpeggio I was thinking of. Fuck, I can't believe I didn't realise that was a C shape, I don't think Necrophagist use it too much.

Necrophagist uses, above all, tons of diminished arpeggios... when you hear their music it's blatant.

but then there is the whole arguement about dimished stuff actually being arpegios or not
i beleive technicaly they are known is a Symtrical (sp) scale (i think at least)
since the scale just generates its self every 3 frets
