OK, so I saw an 8-string today on the internet and i have 2 questions if someone can answer it would help.

Number 1: Does it have to be so low or can i tune it from B to A without messin' it up?

AND

Number 2: are they so rare that I will have to custom order one?

i used to have a 7 string ibanez and i think thats even to much and a 8string guitar is probbaly gonna play (and look) like shit.

sound kinda useless to me, id rather get a 27 fret (or more) guitar then.

I'm not sure why you would want an eight string either. 7 strings get you the low note without sacrificing the standard high notes. Adding the high A string just gives you more annoyingly ear piercing notes that most people don't want to hear and makes barring chords and changing strings even more of a pain in the ass...

No you can't tune them to B. Because the 8th string is an F. Plus it is so fucking thick. So bassically you play it like a bass because the strings are so fucking thick you can't even play a power cord. You have to use that one string with one finger if you want it to sound like a power cord.

I don't really like them. Messuggah uses them. Although they do sound really nice when they are played on a clean channel.

Stick with a 7 string or hell just tune a six string down to B.
