I haven't posted here for a while, but I thought I'd share this video I made during a practice session last week. I know it's not perfect, but whatever. I'll keep practicing.

Thanks dude. Yeah, I threw some highhats on there. The day I recorded that was actually the first time I ever had the highhats on the set, so I'm still getting used to them. They are all cracked to fuck, but I figured I'd try them out.

Question about drum recording;
I'm going to invest some moola (money) in some mics for my drums. But I was wondering; how are cymbals recorded? Do you have like two dynamic/ condenser mics hanging above you on stands to pick up the cymbal sounds, or is there something else.
I'm also going to get a mixer, but I probably won't have questions about that until I get it.

Well, as a matter of fact i bought a mixer last week, and an hour ago i bought 2 microstands and XLR cables. The mic to record your cymbals is an overhead mic (in my case a condenser). Bassdrum and snare are recorded seperately. Normally toms too but i don't have the money for that hehe. I use CAD microphones.

Now, the mics for your drums (All Drums); do you use those one mics that attach to the rim (I think it's the rim) and that have the mic nearly pressedup to the drum head, or something else.
I'm a noob to mics and recording.

If you're talking about AKG clip on mics, you're looking at big bucks.
I bought clip on mics made by Peavey, and they're good enough, but bulky as fuck.
If money wasn't an issue, it would be AKG all the way for me.

I've seen clip-on mics on sale one time for under 60 bucks. Of course there are only 4 of them and I have 4 toms and three snares (But I really only use 2 of my snares).
Better start saving.

I'm a noob to mics and recording.

Nope, those clips were too expensive.
I bought mic stands with boom arms.
Still have to test them though.

No, normally just two placed symmetrically up in the air somewhere for the whole kit.
Do a search on the Pearl drummers' forum or something (- you'll find everything you ever wanted to know about it, plus lots of shit you won't ever need to know.

Sweet news. I may be able to get some recording equipment for my set for a good price....maybe. I've just learned that McMurray's going out of business, so I'm gonna go with my friend to there and while he's searching some 7 string guitars, I'll be looking for some mics and a mixing board.

Mikkey Dee from Motorhead playing a smart solo in the song Sacrifice. I'd never really rated him, but this solo is clean as anything, and his kit is beautifully tuned, even if the setup looks awful to me.
